Entries for the Sutton Coldfield Chess Club Championship were closed midnight 27th September. The draw for both sections, Open and Major, will be made and advertised mid-week with a view for the first round to be on Monday 4th October.
Our league fixtures for the 2021-2022 season have finally been worked out, thanks to John Mildenhall. We are in two leagues: the Birmingham League (6 teams with 64 matches altogether), and the Cannock League (1 team with 4 matches). The Cannock League runs only till Xmas. Congratulations to Marek Soszynski on winning the Lightning (Buzzer) Tournament on Monday 19th July with a perfect score of 7 wins from the 7 rounds. This was our chess club’s first over-the-board ‘event’ at the Minworth Social Club since the initial lockdown.
A reminder that, as usual, the Chess Club will not be meeting on Bank Holidays: Monday 31st May and Monday 30th August. So, chessplayers will next be attending Minworth Social Club on Thursday 3rd June from about 7pm.
